Professor of Computational Medical Imaging Research at University of Bonn | AI Young Investigator Group Leader at Helmholtz AI| Bonn, Munich, Germany

Professor of Computational Medical Imaging Research and the Head of the Albarqouni Lab, his current research interests include Interpretable ML, Robustness, Uncertainty, and Federated Learning. His AggNet paper, published at the IEEE Transaction on Medical Imaging, was among the first ones on Medical Imaging with Deep Learning and has been featured as the top downloaded article for a couple of years at IEEEXplore. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications in Medical Imaging Computing and Computer Vision, published in high-impact journals, and presented at top-tier conferences. His work is widely recognized, and he serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals, including IEEE TPAMI, MedIA, JBHI, and Pattern Recognition. Additionally, he reviews for major conferences such as ECCV, MICCAI, MIDL, BMVC, IPCAI, and ISBI. He has extensive experience organizing international workshops and conferences, including serving as Program Co-Chair for MIDL'22 and Organizing Committee Member for ISBI'22 and MICCAI'24. Beyond his academic pursuits, he is passionate about entrepreneurship and startups, particularly in developing innovative medical solutions for resource-limited settings.
